The Eagle varsity softball team stood at 7-8 for the regular season, after an 11-1 loss to Bucksport on May 26.
Despite scoring one run in the first inning and holding Bucksport to base hits that dwindled to nothing until the bottom of the third, the 2015 state champion Golden Bucks broke through to score two runs in the third, seven in the fourth and two in the sixth.
The score for the final season game against Mattanawcook on June 1 was not available by press time. Based on Tournament Index points, the team looks solid in 7th place, to give them home field advantage for the June 7 preliminary playoff game.
