Blue Hill—Despite a tough 45-41 loss at Piscataquis on Saturday, the George Stevens Academy varsity girls basketball team, at 9-2, is holding onto its #1 Heal ranking, with Stearns (11-0) and Piscataquis (9-2) nipping at their heels.
It was the second straight loss for the previously unbeaten Eagles, who fell to Class B Ellsworth the week before.
But the highest ranked team GSA will face in the remaining seven games is Narraguagus, 10-3 and currently ranked #6. The Eagles won their first match up by 13 points in the first week of the season before Narraguagus went on an eight-game winning streak before falling to Calais (8-3) last weekend.
The two teams face each other in Harrington on January 30 in the fourth game on the road for the Lady Eagles, after Sumner (2-9) on January 20 and Bucksport (5-6) on January 27.
