Deer Isle—The boys baseball team lost to Bangor Christian 13-3 on May 22. As had been our modus operandi, we had one bad inning to put us in a hole, but we felt like we were close to Bangor Christian for the rest of the game. Jacob Gell pitched a solid game as he has become one of our best pitchers lately. We got hits from Coleman Brown, Tobey Snow, Dillan Steele, and Thomas Thompson.
The boys lost a close game to Schenck 7-3 on May 23. After a rough first inning, we got in a hole but stayed within striking distance the whole game. Probably our best played game overall. Myles Brown pitched well and the Schenck coach mentioned his performance to our coach, Shel Pierce.
In the sixth inning, Myles Brown had a line drive with two runners on that became a highlight reel over the shoulder catch by the center fielder. Just our luck. Tobey Snow had two doubles, Dillan Steele had two singles, and Jacob Gell and Trevor Bubar each had a hit. This game was indicative of the progress we have made from earlier in the season.
The boys are 0-14 but our progress is very impressive. Credit this team for working hard to get better all season despite not scoring a win. It was a hard schedule for a rebuilding season as we played mostly all teams with winning records or from Class C.
