Deer Isle—The boys baseball team lost to Bangor Christian 16-4 on May 5. Myles Brown and Tobey Snow split the pitching duties. We had a couple innings with poor defense and gave Bangor Christian as many as six outs. This not only helps our opponents but also is discouraging to our pitchers. Coleman Brown had a single with two RBIs, and Myles Brown and Nathan Thompson each had a single.
The boys lost a double header to Jonesport 7-0 and 9-2 on May 11. In the first game, Tobey Snow pitched five innings with seven strikeouts and Jacob Gell came in for two innings of scoreless relief. Our defense was much improved, especially in the outfield. Myles Brown and Jacob Gell got our only two hits.

In the second game, Jacob Gell got his first start and pitched four innings with a strikeout. Again, we played much better defense, and this made a big difference. Jonesport was overly aggressive on the base paths which helped them score more runs. Myles Brown had two singles and Trevor Bubar had a single with an RBI.
The boys lost to Penobscot Valley 14-0 on May 13. We played a good game until we had a meltdown in the fifth inning and gave up nine runs. We lost two runs on a base running blunder in the first inning that was unfortunate. Overall, our defense was better, and we did get three hits, one each from Myles Brown, who now has a five-game hitting streak, Coleman Brown, and Nathan Thompson. Myles Brown pitched a good game but couldn’t overcome what errors we made.
The boys are still looking for their first win. We are definitely playing better with better defense overall and getting more offense than before. The progress is noticeable, and we have to keep working hard to turn the corner.
