Safe at second

Deer Isle—The boys baseball team actually beat Schenck 9-5 on May 22, but due to a miscalculation of the pitch count on one of our pitchers, we had to forfeit the game. Coach Scott Oliver took full responsibility for the inadvertent mistake and felt terrible that he cost the kids a win. So it goes, mistakes are made, and we will move on from there. Everybody hit the ball well, with Tobey Snow, Silas Bates, Mason Oliver, Stephen Cochrane, and Myles Brown each with a double, and Cole Brown with a single.

The boys played well to beat Jonesport 9-6 on May 25. Tobey Snow pitched the first few innings and Silas Bates finished. We played good defense and were aggressive on the bases. We hit well but also benefited from a lot of walks by the Jonesport pitcher.

Myles Brown had an RBI triple, Mason Oliver had 2 singles, Silas Bates had a double, Nathan Winchester, Stephen Cochrane, and Cole Brown each had a single. The Heal Points we got in this game helped make up for the forfeit.

The boys easily beat Machias 15-2 in 5 innings on May 26. Mason Oliver pitched the complete game. Machias scored the first 2 runs but it was all Mariners after that. Myles Brown had 2 doubles and a single, Mason Oliver had a triple and a single, Silas Bates had 2 doubles, Robby Turner had a triple and scored on a throwing error, and Kinsey Bartlett and Nathan Winchester each had 2 singles.

The boys are 3-8 and in 9th place by 1 Heal Point. We will have a preliminary playoff game somewhere. We have two games left and are playing better than earlier. We have lost to two of the top three teams in Class D by a run. With so many close losses, we play much better than our record and could easily catch a team sleeping in the playoffs.
