Blue Hill—The Eagles varsity boys basketball team scored a different kind of win Tuesday night over Bucksport, different than the last time the teams met when George Stevens pulled out a second-half Northern Regional Championship win on their way to the 2016 Class C state title.
Facing a young-and-rebuilding Bucksport team on December 20, the Eagles rolled to a 32-point victory, giving plenty of court time to team members bumped up from last year’s junior varsity squad.

But for the first two minutes, George Stevens couldn’t find the basket, allowing the Bucks to hold their only lead in the game at 2-0. Those were the only points the Eagles allowed that quarter, sprinting to a 14-2 lead.
The scoreboard told the story of the next three quarters: 41-18 after the second, 67-31 for the third, and the final 76-44.
Senior Jarrod Chase led the Eagles with 21 points, with junior Taylor Schildroth at 19. Junior Max Mattson scored a triple double with 11 points 14 rebounds and 12 blocked shots, while senior Beckett Slayton, returning from injury, scored 5, freshman Caden Mattson had 7, sophomore Reece Dannenberg had 6, junior Percy Zentz had 4, junior Stefan Simmons scored 2, as did sophomore Eric Mote.
Bucksport was lead by Andy Allan with 17 points and Tyson Gray with 13 points.
The Eagles are 4-0 in early season, and face three road games in the next week, against Sumner, Narraguagus and Penquis. They return to home court on Tuesday, January 3, against Searsport at 7 p.m.
