The Mariners rallied their team behind an Island family’s personal struggle, dedicating a June 3 home game to raise funds for cancer research at Eastern Maine Medical Center. The Champion the Cure Game, held in honor of Rick Bubar, who recently lost a battle with cancer, raised over $1,000 through donations, concessions and raffles donated from local businesses. The funds will be donated to the Champion the Cure Challenge at EMMC.
