DISHS tennis teams creep toward playoff spots

Deer Isle—The girls tennis team lost to Piscataquis 5-0 on May 16. For the singles, Marissa Judkins lost 8-3, Emma Plummer lost 8-3, and we forfeited one match. For the doubles, Jill McDonald/Ariel Larrabee lost 8-4 and Gabby Gray/Anwen Hudson lost 8-1.

The girls beat Schenck 3-2 on May 18. For the singles, Marissa Judkins won 8-4, Emma Plummer lost 8-2, and Addie McDonald won 8-2. For the doubles, Ariel Larrabee/Jill McDonald lost 8-6 and Anwen Hudson/McHenna Martin won 8-5. With this win, the girls are 2-9 and have crept into the final playoff position. It shows our progress this season as we are more competitive in most of our matches.

The boys tennis team lost to Piscataquis 5-0 on May 16. For the singles, Ben Penfold lost 8-3, Mason Woodman lost 9-8 (7-4), and Dakota Emrick lost 9-7. For the doubles, Drew Wendell/Elijah Stinson lost 8-4 and Ian Cust/Mason Plummer lost 8-2.

The boys beat Schenck 4-1 on May 18. For the singles, Ben Penfold lost 8-5, Mason Woodman won 8-4, and Dakota Emrick won 8-4. For the doubles, Elijah Stinson/Drew Wendell won a marathon 9-8 (9-7) and we won the other match by forfeit. The boys are 3-8 and are in a close 10th place for the playoffs with the top 12 teams making it.
