Blue Hill—The high school baseball standings can change quickly in a matter of a few days. After a loss to Ellsworth on May 1, the George Stevens Academy squad has won four games over the course of two weeks to put them at the top of the Class C North standings.
The Eagles drove in 25 runs in those four games, with 12 coming in a 12-2 victory in Bucksport last Wednesday. The team’s opponents have scored just six, due to solid pitching from the mound and big defensive plays in the infield and outfield.

George Stevens Academy will have to rely on the depth of that pitching over the next eight games. The team has six games scheduled from May 17 to May 24, including a rematch against Ellsworth and a game against Central High School, which is behind the Eagles in second in the standings. Both of those games will be played on the Eagles’ home diamond.
Coach Dan Kane’s strategy from the beginning of the season has been to focus on one inning at a time, and to play with confidence. With only two weeks left in the regular season, the team will continue to fight for a high spot in the playoffs to make a run at another State Championship appearance.

The rematch against Ellsworth is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on May 17, while the Central game is May 24, also at 4:30 p.m.
Senior night will be May 27 against Bucksport.
