Deer Isle—The successful 2018 season continues for the George Stevens Academy golf team, as they notched another win over Sumner in a home match at the Island Country Club in Deer Isle on September 14.
The Eagles recorded 170 team points in the first-place finish, with Sumner coming in at 242 points in second place.
Thomas Hutchinson of Deer Isle-Stonington High School finished with a 9-hole score of 51 as the only golfer for the Mariners.
George Stevens Academy senior Percy Zentz was on fire on his home course, recording a four-under-par score of 30 to lead all golfers. Sophomore Tony Politano came in with a score of 44, while junior John Bakeman finished with a 45. The two were the only other golfers to finish under 50.
Senior Jacob Russett (50), junior Duncan Howell (53) and freshman Will Austin (66) rounded out the scores for George Stevens Academy.
Ethan Young led the Sumner squad with a 9-hole score of 55.
George Stevens Academy’s next home match is scheduled for Friday, September 21 against Calais. Tee off is set for 4 p.m.
