Deer Isle—The Mariner girls softball team lost to Schenck 25-16 on May 2. Schenck got off to a big lead early and Katie Hutchinson came in and pitched with more consistency. Unfortunately, we had many errors that cost us the game in the long run. Brienna Limeburner had a triple and 3 RBIs, Taylor Hardy a double and 2 singles, Katie Hutchinson a single with 3 RBIs, Abby Stinson a single with 8 stolen bases, Amy Friedell a single and 4 stolen bases, and Kristin Thompson had a single.

The girls lost a heartbreaker to George Stevens 10-9 on May 7. We played a great 3 innings with good defense and hit well to lead 8-0. Then we fell apart with many errors in the fourth and GSA tied it up at 8 apiece. It was hard to watch after we had done so well.

It was close after that, but we couldn’t get back on top. Katie Hutchinson pitched well and hopefully will work to be our designated pitcher. Taylor Hardy did play exceptionally well in left field despite our errors overall.

Taylor Hardy had an inside the park home run and 2 singles, Brienna Limeburner had an inside the park home run, Kaylee Morey, Kaley Eaton, and Amy Friedell each had a single.

The girls are 0-5 but we are looking better. We need to tighten the defense as we are slowly becoming more consistent in pitching. The George Stevens game was ours and we let it slip away. We need to build our confidence and we can turn things around.
