Mariner tennis teams host GSA; boys win over Orono Scott's Sports Spot

Mariner tennis swings into action

Deer Isle—The Mariner girls tennis team lost to George Stevens 5-0 on April 27. In the singles, Emma Plummer lost 8-0, Rylee Eaton lost 8-1, and Ella Marshall lost 8-0. In the doubles, Lily Gray/Addie McDonald lost 8-1 and Ariel Larrabee/Jill McDonald lost 8-2.

The girls lost to Orono 5-0. In the singles, Marissa Judkins lost 8-1, Orly Vaughn lost 8-0, and Emma Plummer lost 8-0. In the doubles, Lily Gray/Addie McDonald lost 8-3 and McHenna Martin/Jill McDonald lost 8-0.

The boys tennis team also lost to George Stevens 5-0. In the singles, Devon Emrick lost 8-1, Ben Penfold lost 8-4, and Dakota Emrick lost 8-5. In the doubles, Oskar Mattes/Mason Plummer lost 8-5 and Ennis Marshall/Ian Cust lost 8-4.

On Monday, April 30, the boys beat Orono 3-2. In the singles, Devon Emrick won 8-1, Ben Penfold lost 8-2, and Dakota Emrick won 8-5. In the doubles, Ennis Marshall/Ian Cust lost 8-6 and Mason Plummer/Wyatt Eaton won 8-3.

The girls team is young and working to build experience. The boys are starting well with a win and a decent performance against George Stevens.
