Blue Hill—After falling to Sumner in the opening game of the season, the George Stevens Academy baseball team rebounded with three straight wins, two of which came in back-to-back home games on April 27 and April 30 against Central High School and Dexter, respectively.
On April 30, senior pitcher Stefan Simmons was on fire from the mound in a 3-0 win, throwing 11 strikeouts and allowing just four Dexter hits. He also cranked a two-run double to propel his team to the victory.
Sophomore Caden Mattson also provided some offense for the Eagles with a single and an RBI.
Simmons’s bat was hot in the game against Central as well, with two hits and an RBI in the team’s 7-3 win. Mattson and junior Ben Parker also recorded two hits in a balanced offensive showing for George Stevens Academy.
Senior Ben Cole started the game on the mound for the Eagles, with freshman Garrett Parker and Simmons coming in to share relief duties.
George Stevens Academy is scheduled to be on the road through the next three games before a home contest against Mount Desert Island on May 17. The team will be at Deer Isle-Stonington High School on May 7, then at Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln and Orono on May 11 and May 14, respectively.
