Deer Isle—The girls softball team won their preliminary playoff game with Jonesport 16-3 on June 4. We got off to a quick start with four hits and aggressive base running to score five runs in the first inning. We scored two runs in the second and four in the third to lead 11-1. Three walks and a hit batter combined with a timely single that gave Jonesport two more runs in the fourth but we came back with five hits for five runs to stretch the lead to 16-3. Taylor Hardy got three strikeouts in the fifth to seal the win.
Overall Taylor Hardy pitched a good game with seven strikeouts, five hits, five walks, and four hit batters. We countered with 14 hits, led by Abby Stinson who had two singles and scored four runs in the lead-off position, Lily Gray and Kaylee Morey each with a double and a single for two RBIs, Kristin Thompson a single for two RBIs, Makayla Lebel two singles, Grace Morey and Brittany Gray each with a single and an RBI, and Brienna Limeburner and Taylor Hardy each with a single.

The girls softball team won a close game with George Stevens 14-13 on May 29. We led 6-2 going into the fourth inning when GSA scored four runs to tie it up. We scored four runs to go back ahead but then GSA scored five runs to go up by a run. We scored three runs to go up by two and managed to hang on to win, giving up one run in the top of the seventh.
Abby Stinson had a triple and two singles, Brienna Limeburner had a double and two singles, Haley Hardy and Kaylee Morey each had two singles. When GSA started to hit Taylor Hardy, Coach Hollan Oliver put Brittany Gray in to pitch to change the pace. Our biggest problem was that we gave up 17 walks overall, which is way more than we have been, giving too many extra base runners.
The girls redeemed themselves with a strong game, beating Sumner 23-7 the following day. The key to this game was a strong defense, much fewer walks, and many strong hitters. Taylor Hardy pitched the entire game, giving up five hits and getting three strikeouts. For hitters, Brittany Gray had four hits with four RBIs, Kaylee Morey had four hits with three RBIs, Lily Gray had a double and two singles with three RBIs, Makayla Lebel had two doubles for four RBIs, and Taylor Hardy had three singles.
