High school teams from across Maine and New England will race in Penobscot Bay when GSA hosts the annual Downeast Invitational Regatta on Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10. Using the Maine Maritime Academy waterfront and its fleet of C420 sailboats, two-person crews will tack and turn in Smith Cove. An awards ceremony will follow the action on Sunday, including the Modisette trophy, dedicated to Jim Modisette, the man who started the event in 2000, and given to the top finisher from Maine.
