The Mariners boys and girls will host Penobscot Valley on January 3, with the girls starting things off at 1 p.m. Will the home crowd help turn things around for the teams? The girls are 1-4 after losses to GSA (59-42) on December 23 and Searsport (58-35) on December 20, while the boys are 2-5 after falling to Searsport 66-32 on December 19. Bu first, the girls travel to Sumner on Tuesday, December 30, with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.

At home and away, Mariners boys and girls fall to Searsport
On Saturday, December 20, the Deer Isle-Stonington girls suffered a 58-35 loss at Searsport, with Allyson Eaton leading the way for the Mariners with 14 points. Allison Cormier added 8. The girls are 2-3, with wins over Bucksport and Jonesport-Beals. They face Bangor Christian in an away game on Monday, December 22 at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7 p.m. And on Tuesday, December 23, they play the GSA Eagles at Blue Hill with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
The boys lost at home to Searsport the night before to the same team, in a game where they fell steadily behind each quarter for a final score of 66-32. Senior Jared Gove scored 7 points. The boys are now 2-5, with wins over Jonesport-Beals and Penobscot Valley.

The Eagles lost at Piscataquis 41-26 on December 17 when the Pirates surged ahead in the second half, scoring 24 to GSA’s 10 points to clinch a 41-26 win. Morgan Dauk led with 15 pints, while Katrina Limeburner scored 7. The team is 2-1 with wins over Bucksport and Washington Academy. They face the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners at GSA on December 23. Tip off is 7 p.m. But first, they play Searsport at home on December 18 at 7 p.m.
