Mariner Macey Brown takes a shot as she scores eight points in a January 18 game against Searsport. By Jack Scott

The girls basketball team beat Machias 55-18 January 13. This was a game where everyone played after we built up a big lead. Kaylee Morey led us with 12 points, Macey Brown and Rylee Eaton each with 9, and Tatum Chase, Taylor Hardy, Peyton Rice, and Brienna Limeburner each with 6.

On January 18, the girls beat Searsport 57-34. Again, we built up a 41-11 lead at the half and the subs played the rest of the game. Searsport is a young athletic team and will be much stronger next year. It is great to have the subs playing on the floor to gain confidence for game situations. Katie Hutchinson led us with 12 points, Rylee Eaton 11, Kaylee Morey 9, Macey Brown 8, and Taylor Hardy 7.

The girls are 13-1, after a January 21 53-40 win over Bucksport, and currently in second place behind Southern Aroostook. We will be in the top 3 teams for Bangor as we have some tough games ahead with Schenck and then Greenville in the beginning of February. We are playing well but need these teams to challenge us to be ready for the tournament.
