DISHS boys tennis team reaches prelims Girls' season ends just shy of playoffs

Deer Isle—The girls tennis team won their last game against Sumner 5-0 on May 24. For the singles, Marissa Judkins won 8-4, Emma Plummer won 8-3, and Addie McDonald won 8-2. For the doubles, Jill McDonald/Ariel Larrabee won 8-2 and McHenna Martin/Anwen Hudson won 9-8 (7-3). The girls finish with a 3-8 record and our progress since the beginning of the year was very noticeable, as we finished just below the playoff cutoff in the standings.

The boys tennis team beat Sumner 5-0, also on May 24. For the singles, Ben Penfold won 8-1, Mason Woodman won 8-3, and we won the other singles match by forfeit. For the doubles, we won both matches by forfeit.

The boys, who finished the season 4-8 played a prelim match at Calais on Wednesday, May 29, and lost a close one, 3-2. We have made the playoffs for several years in a row.
