Deer Isle—The Deer Isle-Stonington Mariner girls and boys tennis teams hosted the George Stevens Academy Eagles in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 30. Both GSA teams came away with the team victories.
On the girls side, the Eagles took two 5-0 victories to improve to a 2-1 season record through the first three matches.

In first singles, Julianna Allen beat Marissa Judkins 8-0, 8-0, while Courtney Bianco took an 8-0, 8-2 victory over Deer Isle-Stonington’s Emma Plummer. Chloe Politte bested Addie McDonald in the final singles contests of the afternoon, 1-8, 0-8.
In doubles action, Libby Weed and Yulia Heggestad came away with the 2-8, 2-8 victories over Jill McDonald and Ariel Larrabee, while Erika Hipsky and Hattie Slayton took 1-8, 1-8 victories over Anwen Hudson and McHenna Martin.

On the boys side, the Eagles took 5-0, 4-1 team wins over the Mariners. In the first match, Kent Fang beat out Mason Woodman 8-0 in first singles, Connery Williamson took the win over Dakota Emerick, 8-1 in second singles, and a third singles win by forfeit. In doubles, Lars Hooper and Chris Bennett came away with the 8-0 win over Ian Cust and Mason Plummer, while Joey Mitchell and Liam Webb also gained the victory over Drew Wendell and Elijah Sintson.
In the second match, it was Quinn Stabler with the first singles win over Woodman, 8-2, while Emerick took the only win on the afternoon for the Mariners with a second singles win over Lars Hooper, 8-2. The third singles match went to GSA by forfeit.

Mitchell and Webb gained their second win of the day, this time over Cust and Plummer, 8-2, while Bennett and Tony Politano came through with the victory over Wendell and Stinson, 8-4.
Both teams have heavy schedules this week, playing nearly half their season in the next six days.
