Blue Hill—The George Stevens Academy indoor track team competed in the third Eastern Maine Track League meet of the season on January 5, with the girls team taking second place and the boys coming in fourth.
Two first-place relay finishes highlighted the afternoon for the girl’s team. While the 4×800 meter relay went off without a hitch, with runners Lannea Zentz, Tess Williamson, Oceana Ragot and Gabriyah Gadsby coming in first place with a clean time of 11:32, the 4×200 meter relay had some drama. Susanna Jakub, the third runner on the relay team, fumbled the baton handoff to Zentz, who was late getting into gear. The Eagle runners had a healthy lead over the other runners at that point, and were still able to pull off the win by a nine-second margin.
The boys relay teams took third place finishes in the 4×800 and the 4×200.

Grace Broughton and Hattie Slayton finished second and third, respectively, in the 55 meter hurdles, while Broughton also took second in the 200 meter dash. Also in the top five in the 200 meter was Jakub, who finished fifth.
Josie Czuj finished third in the one mile race for the team’s distance runners.
On the boy’s side, Meredith Bradshaw Thomas’s first place finish in the 800 meter run highlighted the afternoon, while Ian Renwick took fourth in the 400 meter dash.
In field competition, Ivy Manner Wheelden came in third in the long jump, while Tess Williamson took second in the triple jump.
Ian Renwick came in second in the long jump for the boys.
