ORONO—The Eagle girls 800 meter relay team took home the Eastern Maine Indoor Track League title February 10 at the University of Maine. Seniors Eliza Broughton, Zeya Lorio and Mary Brenna Catus and junior Gabriyah Gadsby posted a 10:13.69 time, breaking their own record set February 4, and were named to the 2017-18 All-Conference team in that event, while Broughton, Lorio, Catus and Mary Richardson were named to the Senior All-Academic team for carrying a GPA of 90 or better for seven semesters.
Richardson was also awarded the Anne Norton Sportsmanship Award. She also took fifth in the one mile run.

Broughton placed second in the two mile run and third in the 55 meter hurdles. Freshman Grace Broughton took fourth in the 400 meter dash, edged out of third by 0:00.14 seconds, and Lorio took fifth in the 800 meter run, less than half a second behind the fourth place finisher.
As a team, the Eagle girls placed seventh out of 13 teams, scoring 32 points. Bangor won the meet with 91.50.
The boys team placed 11th in a three-way tie with Mattanawcook and Central, scoring a total four points on junior Meredith Bradshaw Thomas’s fourth-place performance in the 800 meter run. In the only other event entered, the 800 meter relay, the team of senior Marshal Lebel, freshmen Ian Renwick and Oliver Wilson, and Bradshaw were disqualified in the first leg. Brewer won the championship with 78 points.
The varsity indoor track team will compete at the state finals at Bates College on February 17.
