Blue Hill—Under the lights in Bar Harbor, the George Stevens Academy Eagles won in sudden death to break a 2-2 tie against the Mount Desert Island Trojans on September 13. Senior Taylor Schildroth kicked in the winning shot, his second goal, to add to an assist for sophomore Owen Vinall. Jose Chumbe Davila and Treavor Morrison each scored for MDI.
The Eagles’ win followed an 8-0 rout over Bucksport in Blue Hill the day before. A 2-1 win over Houlton on September 16 completed the three-game winning streak for George Stevens. They stand at 4-0-2 going into Thursday’s home game against Orono, which boasts the same season record, for a first match up this year.
The George Stevens girls squeaked out a scoreless tie against MDI on September 14, followed by a 3-0 loss to Houlton. They stand at 2-3-1, with Wednesday, September 20, results against Orono (5-1) not available by press time.
