BANGOR—The Lady Mariners gave an outstanding performance in their semifinal match up against #3 Katahdin February 20 at the Cross insurance Center in Bangor, running away in the second half for a final 48-34 win.
Seconds after tip-off, starter Rylee Eaton had to leave the court after a scramble for the ball left her with broken glasses but that mishap was the only thing that went wrong as the Mariners went shot for shot against Katahdin and came out the winner.
An early foul shot by Macy Brown put the Mariners on the board, quickly followed by a lay up by Katie Hutchinson for a 3-0 lead in the first 60 seconds. DI-S and Katahdin shared the lead throughout the first quarter, with the Mariners trailing 9-8 to start the second quarter. That would be the only time they were behind, finishing the first half ahead 24-16 and extending the lead in the third quarter to 35-26 to run away for the win in the fourth, despite Katie Hutchinson, with four personal fouls, on the bench for most of the final quarter.

Kaylee Morey led the Mariners with 13 points, Brittany Gray scored nine, Katie Hutchinson chipped in 8 points, and Brienna Limeburner contributed seven points. Rylee Eaton and Macey Brown scored 4 points each, Makayla Lebel chipped in two and Peyton Rice one point.
The Mariners will face #1 Southern Aroostook (20-0) in a repeat of last year’s Class D North Championship, on Saturday, 9 a.m., back at the Cross Insurance Center, with the Mariners hoping for a different result this time around.
