Brewer—The George Stevens Academy girls and boys track teams finished in the middle of the pack in the final team standings at the Brewer Invitational Relay Carnival on May 4.
The girls came in eighth place, while the boys finished sixth, in a field that featured athletes from Class A, B and C schools, including Bangor High School, Orono High School, and the host school Brewer High School.

The running events were relay events only, and field events included high jump, long jump, and pole vaulting, among others.
On the girls side, senior Oshi Ragot, freshman Yasumin Sarawan, and sophomores Logan Bryan and Willow Betz took 11th in the 4×200 meter relay. The same relay team finished in 18th place in the 4×100 meter relay.

The team of Ragot, senior Susanna Jakub, sophomore Elisa O’Hara and freshman Luna Perry-St. Peter came in third place in the 1,600 meter sprint medley, behind Bangor and Brewer, which took second and first place, respectively. Jakub, O’Hara, Perry-St. Peter and freshman Lannea Zentz grabbed another third place finish for the Eagles in the 4×400 meter relay.
In boys action, the GSA team of sophomore Russell LaMarre, junior Alex Fu, and freshmen Arden Weaver and Nathan Dauk took eighth place in 4×200 meter relay, while senior Eric Mote, junior Ian Howell and freshmen Clark Morrison and Noah Czuj also finished eighth in the distance medley.
Weaver, sophomore Franklin Sealander and senior Jeremiah Scheff took third in the 3×70 yard shuffle hurdle event, while senior Daniel Li and sophomores Theo Lesko, Mike Moon and Ian Renwick finished sixth in the 4×100 meter relay.

Howell, senior Jack Gandy and sophomore Oliver Wilson came in third place in the 3×800 meter race walk relay, while the team of seniors Scheff, Mote and Meredith Bradshaw Thomas, along with Morrison, took first place in the 4×800 meter relay for the Eagles’ best finish of the afternoon.
Fu, Dauk, Mote and Czuj came in 13th in the 1,600 meter sprint medley, and Renwick, Moon, Bradshaw Thomas and Scheff finished fourth in the 4×400 meter relay.
The boys and girls teams came together in the mixed 1,200 meter sprint medley, with Li, Moon, Jakub and Zentz finishing in seventh place.
The Eagles have two more meets over the next two weeks, both at Mount Desert Island, before the Penobscot Valley Conference Small Schools Championship, which will be held at Bucksport.

The MDI meets are scheduled for Friday, May 10, and Friday, May 19. The second MDI meet is the Hancock County Championship meet. Both have 3:30 p.m. start times.
The PVC championship meet is scheduled for May 24, also at 3:30 p.m.
Last year, the girls team finished fourth out of 14 teams at the PVC championships, while the boys placed sixth out of 14. Both teams placed second in last year’s Hancock County championship meet.
