BLUE HILL—A third-place win for the Eagles girls track team, and a fifth place for the boys at the state championships June 4 at Foxcroft Academy followed title wins by Morgan Dauk in the javelin throw and, in the 1600 meter run, for John Hassett.
Junior Morgan Dauk repeated her 2015 win in the javelin event, with a 116’5” throw.
Hassett, the 2015 winner in the 3200 meter run, chose to compete in the 800 and 1600 meter events; he placed third in the 800 meters.
Erik Taylor-Lash won a state title in the 1600 meter race walk, while the girls grabbed second-place wins in the 400 and 800 meter relay events. Mary Richardson also placed third in the 3200 meter run.
The girls team scored 43.75 points, behind Sacopee Valley at 72 and state champion Orono at 168.75. The boys team fifth-place score came in at 38.50 points, behind winner Orono at 78.60. Washington Academy at 63 points for third, followed by Lisbon and Traip Academy, which scored 40 points, narrowly beating out the Eagles.
Thirty-two girls and 33 boys Class C schools competed in the state championships.
