BANGOR—Senior basketball standout Jarrod Chase has committed to play for Husson University in 2017-18, according to a June 7 press release.

Chase, a 6-foot-3 forward from Blue Hill, is best known for his dramatic championship-winning buzzer beater in the Class C State Championship game this winter against Winthrop. His dramatic three pointer over two defenders with 1.2 seconds left iced the victory and won the gold ball for the Eagles.

“Jarrod had a great career at GSA. He was a big part of two state championship teams,”  says Husson head coach Warren Caruso. “Jarrod has a solid skill set and is a very good athlete.  We feel he has a good upside and will develop into a very good college player.”

Chase concluded his senior season averaging 14.8 pts, 6.0 assists, 7.6 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. He was a key contributor on two State Championship teams that had an overall record of 43-1 over his final two seasons. His play on the court earned him a place on the PVC All Defensive Team for the third time in 2017 as well as placed him on the All Tournament and All- Conference Second Teams.

Chase will join the Husson University Eagles, a Divison III team, which won the North Atlantic Conference championship in 2017.
