Deer Isle—The girls softball team beat Machias 13-11 on May 30. This was the same score that Machias beat us by earlier in the season. Lily Gray pitched the entire game with 5 strikeouts. We hit the ball well with Brienna Limeburner hitting 2 doubles, Brittany Gray 2 singles, Kristin Thompson a triple, Lily Gray a double, and Haley Hardy, Madison Frazier, and Katie Hutchinson each with a single.

The girls beat Jonesport 16-5 on May 27. Brittany Gray pitched with Lily Gray finishing up. We scored many runs on walks and errors with Brienna Limeburner hitting 2 doubles and a single, Madison Frazier a double, and Amy Friedell, Sailor Eaton, Lily Gray, and Kristin Thompson each with a single.

The girls won a game against Bangor Christian 7-6. This was a close game with Lily Gray pitching, getting out of a bases-loaded jam by getting the last out with a strikeout. Brienna Limeburner had 3 singles, Kristin Thompson a double and a single, Abby Stinson and Lily Gray each with 2 singles, and Amy Friedell and Madison Frazier each with a single.

The girls ended their season with a 7-9 record, winning 4 out of their last 5 games. The irony of the Heal Point system is that we were in the last playoff spot before we beat Bangor Christian, and ended up out of the playoff spot by beating them and giving Katahdin just enough points to go ahead of us.

We have a very good core of players this year and with several players coming up from eighth grade, we should be a contending team next year. One of the keys will be to have consistent pitching.
