MDI—The George Stevens Academy sailing team took a seventh-place finish out of 11 teams at the Great Harbor Regatta Saturday, May 27, on Mount Desert Island.

The Eagles narrowly missed a sixth-place finish, as Isleboro took that position in a tie break with George Stevens.

The GSA A division team Hattie Slayton and Katie Forrest was third, one point behind the Rockland A division team and three behind the Boothbay team. The GSA B division team of Silas Murnik, Tess Williamson, Marie Boulet, Oceana Ragot and Burlioz Xu came in eighth.

Winds were from the Northeast most of the day between seven to 10 knots, slowing to less than four for the last two races, according to coach Bill Neufeld.

Mendums Seacoast Sailing Team of New Hampshire was the winner of the Great Harbor Regatta, beating out teams from MDI, Rockland, Camden Hills, Yarmouth and others.
