Deer Isle—The boys baseball team lost a close game on May 24 to George Stevens 6-5. This was a well-played game for us and we traded leads throughout the game. With the game tied in the seventh, 2 GSA singles gave them the winning walk off run. Ethan Shepard and Silas Bates split the pitching duties. Although we get no Heal Points and ended up on the short end of the win, this is very good for our confidence. Tyson Rice had a 2 RBI single and Arthur Peixoto had an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

The boys beat Jonesport 8-1 on May 27. Shepard, with 11 strikeouts, and Bates, with 6 strikeouts, dominated Jonesport. It started as a close game without any scoring after three innings until we scored 3 runs in each of the next two innings to break it open. Shepard had a double and a single, Kinsey Bartlett had 2 singles, Bates had a double, and Rice and Tobey Snow each had a single. With a couple players missing, everyone was able to contribute.

The boys are 5-8, in a fluid 10th place, and pretty well entrenched in the playoff picture with three games this week. We have been playing well lately and we need to carry that momentum into the playoffs.
