BANGOR—The Deer Isle-Stonington girls basketball team suffered a tough loss tonight against fourth-ranked Easton in the Class D quarterfinals.

Trailing by four points at the end of the first quarter, the Mariners remained scoreless in the second and saw Easton’s lead stretch from 9-5 to 21-5.  The third quarter ended with the Mariners trailing 30-12, and at the final buzzer, the final score was 45-23, ending the Deer Isle-Stonington team’s run.

The Mariners rose through the rankings on a strong run during the second half of the regular season, and were separated from Easton by a whisper in the Heal Point Standings  but never faced them until the tournament game tonight. The DISHS team finishes  the season at 11-8.
