Blue Hill—In its first varsity season, the George Stevens Academy indoor track team is one meet and nine days away from the Eastern Maine Indoor Track League championships. With weekly meets held at the University of Maine at Orono indoor track, the boys team placed fourth on January 28 in an eight-team field, behind Bangor, Old Town and Hampden. Top five results in the high jump (Ian Ramsey, Cameron Gordon), pole vault (Erik Taylor-Lash, Alex Taylor-Lash), 55 meter hurdles (Alex Taylor-Lash, Tyler Brenton), 1 mile run (Ollie Dillon) combined with a win by Gordon in the 800 meter run and second-place finish in the 4×800 meter relay (Dillon, Ian Howell, Nick Norton and Erik Taylor-Lash) combined for a total 48 team points.
The girls team placed 5th, behind Bangor, Old Town, Hampden and John Bapst, with 38 points, winning the 4×800 meter relay (Hanna Jordan, Oceana Ragot, Mary Richardson and Gabriyah Gadsby). Eliza Broughton took first in the 1 mile run and Mary Brenna Catus in the 800 meter run. Top five finishes came in the 55 meter hurdle and 800 meter run from Bella Cimeno, and 4×200 meter relay (Hattie Slayton, Catus, Cimeno and Jordan).
The final regular season meet is Saturday, February 4, with the championships on February 11.
