Eagles and Mariners varsity update Schildroth scores career-high 61 points; Mariners win 3 of 4; Lady Eagles roll over Lee Academy

BLUE HILL and DEER ISLE—On Friday in Blue Hill, George Stevens Academy junior Taylor Schildroth led the Eagles to a 97-69 win over previously undefeated Lee Academy (5-1).  The Eagles jumped out to a 33-10  lead behind Schildroth’s 27 first quarter points, as he poured  in a game and career high 61 points.  Senior Jarrod Chase and junior Max Mattson notched  double doubles with 17 points and 10 rebound, and 11 points and 15 rebounds, respectively. The win brings the undefeated Eagles to 9-0 heading into the second half of the regular season, facing with no real competition in the North.

The Lady Eagles  remain undefeated after rolling over Lee Academy at home on Saturday in a lopsided 74-14 victory. Senior Morgan Dauk led the Eagles with 34 points and  11 rebounds, while junior Mazie Smallidge and sophomores Julianna Allen and  Mallory Charette each chipped in 10 points. At 9-0, the Lady Eagles sit at top of the rankings, with undefeated Stearns (8-0) in second and Madawaska (7-0) in fourth—teams that won’t face each other until tournament time. The Class C North  is shaping up to be one of the most competitive divisions in the girls’ league.

The Deer Isle Stonington Mariners boys and girls scored wins over Bangor Christian at home on Wednesday, with the boys posting a 41-35 victory and the Lady Mariners 54-37 off a strong second quarter. The girls followed up with a tight 37-35 win over Greenville on Saturday, bringing them to 6-4 for the season and the fifth spot in the Heal Point Standings. The boys fell to Greenville 58-48.

The Lady Eagles host Class B Ellsworth (2-6) on Monday, at 7 p.m., while the Mariners host Searsport (boys, 4-4; girls, 4-4)  at 5 p.m. for the girls and 6:30  p.m., boys. The Eagle boys host Piscataquis (4-4) on Tuesday; tip-off is 7 p.m.
