Eagles girls soccer falls to Orono in overtime

Blue Hill—George Stevens Academy varsity girls soccer team lost a hard-fought 3-2 battle against top-ranked Orono on October 7 and took a tumble in the rankings down to seventh place.

The Eagles went head to head for a 2-2 tie against the Red Riots before the game went into overtime, where Orono scored for the win.

Morgan Dauk and Lindsay Nevin goaled for GSA, with Bess MacArthur saving 11 of 19 shots.

Orono is the only team the Eagles have lost to this season, but they improved on their 0-1 loss on October 1.

Their 8-2-1 season record—with the results of the October 12 Deer Isle-Stonington match not yet available—is stronger than their current Heal Point Standing. Their final regular season games are against #12 Dexter and #15 Sumner and should edge the Eagles back up. The top five teams receive a bye for the preliminary playoff game, while the top four teams keep home field advantage in the quarterfinals.
