Deer Isle—The cross country team at present consists of three freshmen, Benjamin Penfold, Ian Cust and Trevor Cochrane, and juniors Brendan Penfold and Soozin Cha. The three freshmen have just started racing and have run in the JV races; Cha has yet to compete. Brendan Penfold has been running all summer and is already beating his best times from last year.

At the Ellsworth Invitational meet, in the JV race, Ian Cust came in 40th of 53 and Benjamin Penfold came in 45th. Brendan Penfold came in second with a time of 17:01 in the varsity field of 74.

On a sweltering day at the Bucksport Invitational, Ian Cust came in 6th of 18 runners, Trevor Cochrane came in 11th in his first race, and Benjamin Penfold came in 13th, all in the JV race. Once again Brendan Penfold came in second in the varsity race with a time of 16:59. That is a very impressive start to the season.
