CASTINE—Maine Maritime Academy men’s basketball announced its 2016-17 Mariner basketball recruits on May 3, with a strong showing from Maine high schools.
Bucksport’s Riley MacLeod, who helped drive his team to the 2016 Northern Regional finals in February, joins Hampden Academy seniors Brendan McIntyre and Conar Moore, who have committed to the Mariner team, according to a press release.
Nicholas DePatsy of Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro and Jack O’Rourke of Cape Elizabeth High School round out the Maine freshmen recruits.
The incoming basketball class also includes players from New Hampshire, Texas and Cleveland, Ohio.
“Our 2016 recruiting class is an important piece during this historic time for Maine Maritime basketball,” said Head Coach David Muchnick. “Never before in its history has our program had four different states represented by an incoming class, or that we return over 90 percent of our scoring next season. The talent is here, the depth is here, the desire and work ethic is here, now it’s time to go out and finally prove it!”
