BLUE HILL—The George Stevens Academy sailing team finished sixth overall out of 10 teams from Maine and Vermont at the sixth annual Breakwater Blast Regatta in Rockland Sunday, May 1.

Fourteen boats were on the start line, the most ever for the event, and 12 races were completed in a cool and steady 10-15 knot southerly breeze, according to a press release from Apprenticeshop, which sponsored and ran the event.

The duo of Hattie Slayton and Katie Forrest had a good performance in the A Division with a sixth-place finish, according to head coach Bill Neufeld. The B Division team of Dylan Desfosses, Rachel Desfosses, Riley Lamarre, Siria Capezzani and Berlioz Xu also came in sixth place.

“The team did well,” said Neufeld. “[We were up against] 14 boats from 10 different schools.”

Other Maine teams that competed in the event included Cheverus High School, Mount Desert Island High School, Camden Hills Regional High School, Boothbay Region High School, Searsport Region High School, Southern Maine High School, Yarmouth Academy, Rockland Community Sailing and Islesboro Central School.
