Eagles win, lose to Bucksport

BLUE HILL—The George Stevens Academy baseball team took a 4-0 home win over the Bucksport Golden Bucks, while, the Lady Eagles softball team lost 14-3 on Wednesday, May 4 in two games that saw overcast skies and cooler temperatures.

The first of three consecutive games for the Eagles, the baseball team got on the board with early runs in the first inning, taking a 2-0 lead before driving in two more runs in the fourth.

The GSA defense dug in behind pitcher Stefan Simmons, allowing only four hits without any runs scoring across the plate.

Taylor Schildroth recorded three singles on the game, while Beckett Slayton contributed two singles to lead the Eagles to victory.

On the softball diamond, the Lady Eagles took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning before Bucksport recorded a four-run rally in the fourth inning to take the lead. Bucksport tacked on 10 more runs across the next three innings, allowing only one more GSA run in the sixth and final inning of play.

Hannah Peasley drove in two runs off two singles for GSA, while Olivia Stevenson recorded three singles.

Both teams face Sumner today, May 5, on the George Stevens Academy home fields at 4:30 p.m.
