The Mariners softball team will be a very young team with small numbers. Almost two-thirds of the team will be freshmen. At present, there are only 10 members of the team, cutting it close for the nine needed to play. Coach Terry Siebert expects us to have a slow start as the younger players get used to the speed of high school play but is encouraged by the enthusiastic attitude of the players he has.

With only one senior, two juniors, and one sophomore, there is little experience from the teams that have made the playoffs in the last few years. Natalie Knowlton will be pitching again this year with freshman Lily Gray a possible back up. Everything else is up for grabs as everyone will see plenty of time in the field. Coach Siebert feels that, with a lot of work, this will certainly bode well for next year’s team no matter how well we can play for this year.
