The Mariner varsity boys baseball team has many returning players from last year’s team and good numbers with 17 players this year. Though we weren’t that successful last year, the experience gained by most of the players will give us a good start this year.

Coach Randy Shepard is working on the fundamentals along with everything else and feels we will be a solid team this year. He is pleased with the help on pitching that assistant coach Caleb Hale has done so far, as three of the top pitchers from last year have returned.

At present, we have three seniors and two juniors, with the bulk of the team supported by the six sophomores. Building around a good core of players from last year and solid pitching, Coach Shepard is optimistic that we will be successful this year. We were able to have a scrimmage with Fort Kent last week and we put up good offensive numbers, which is also encouraging at the start.
