BLUE HILL—The George Stevens Academy swim teams finished out the season with Class B state championship competition on Monday, February 15, and Tuesday, February 16.
In girls action on Monday, Ava Sealander grabbed a third-place finish in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:17, less than a second ahead of the fourth-place swimmer. Sealander also notched a fourth-place finish in the 100 yard butterfly event with a time of 1:00, missing the second place spot by just shy of a second. Maya Pelletier swam to an eighth-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:43. Pelletier and Sealander were a part of the fifth-place relay team in the 200 yard freestyle relay event, along Ellie Gellerson and Emma Larson-Whittaker. The relay team of Sealander, Pelletier, Larson-Whittaker and Hanna Jordan came in ninth in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The boys team competed on Tuesday, with action highlighted by a 14th-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle relay. That relay team, which finished with a time of 1:51, was made up of Alexciy Prokopov, Evan Soukup, Alex Yap and Haddie Shaw. Soukup and Prokopov finished 27th and 28th, respectively, in the 50 yard freestyle event.
The GSA girls team finished 11th overall out of 22 teams, two spots behind Ellsworth, which came in ninth overall. Greely High School took the Class B state championship title.
On the boys side, GSA finished 22nd out of 23 teams, while Ellsworth was the overall Class B champion.
