Eagle girls lose semifinal battle against Orono, boys fall to Washington



The boys and girls varsity soccer teams faced the top-ranked Class C teams and walked away defeated on October 30, winding up a strong season that saw both teams outplay their quarterfinal opponents to make it to the semifinals.

The girls lost 4-0 to Orono, playing at the Hampden Academy field, giving up two goals each half. The boys lost 6-0 to Washington Academy in an uphill battle to a team that is now 16-0 going into the Northern Regional Championships. The boys finish the season ranked fifth with a 10-4-1 record and a 2-1 quarterfinal win against #4 Orono to take home. The girls, also ranked fifth, ended with 9-2-4 record. They defeated a surprise #4 Penquis Valley in the quarterfinals before falling to Orono (12-1-1).
