The cross country team competed in the Pendale Invitational in Hermon on a wet course. It was a great meet for everyone as we all ran personal best times for this year. Brendan Penfold led us in the varsity boys with a seventh-place finish, and, at 18:04.03, took a minute off his best time so far. Oskar Mattes also ran the varsity boys race and came in at 24:30.83, his best time.
Penfold is the headliner for the team, as he has been very successful, but it is significant that all the runners have shown improvement as of late. This is a tough sport to do until you have reached the conditioning level that gives you the ability to push yourself. It shows that everyone is trying harder.
This weekend, we will compete in the PVC invitational at Mattanawcook. There will be 23 schools that will be represented in this meet.
