Deer Isle—The boys baseball team lost to Schenck 11-3 on May 27. We managed to get a couple runs early and the game was fairly close, as we trailed 4-2 after 5 innings. Krisford Melanio pitched well with four strikeouts and causing many ground balls which we fielded well. We scored our two runs in the second inning when Nathan Winchester was hit by a pitch, stole second, got to third on a single by Krisford Melanio. Krisford stole second and Noah Davis had a single that drove them both home. Noah stole second and third, but was stranded there.

Switching pitchers in the sixth caught up to us and Schenck hit the ball hard, scoring more runs in the sixth and seventh to build their lead. We scored again in the sixth when Ethan Shepard walked, stole second and third, and made it home on a throwing error. In the bottom of the seventh, Zach Ladd, Mason Oliver, and Tyson Rice each had singles to load the bases with no outs, but three strikeouts ended the threat and the game.

The boys are 2-10 and have made good strides overall. We need to work on developing our pitching depth and also our consistency in the field. We look good and then it all falls apart. We have a couple more games this week and then we will look forward to the next season with most all of the players returning.
