Eagles track team reaches high

The George Stevens Academy track team competed at Bucksport on May 14 in a six-school meet, with the girls posting 104 total points for a distant second-place behind powerhouse Orono’s 268, and the boys third, with 92 points, behind Orono (235) and Foxcroft Academy (153).

The individual results saw hurdle jumper Bella Cimeno continue her run at first-place finishes in the 300 meter event. Erik Taylor-Lash easily won the 1,600 meter race walk and took third in the pole-vault (photo above), and Mary Richardson placed second in the 3,200 meter run. The girls 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams were solid with second-place finishes. In the boys long jump, Cameron Gordon and Ian Ramsay placed first and second, both covering 5’4” but Gordon winning on points.

Next up is the Penobscot Valley Conference at Dover Foxcroft on May 22 and the state meet at Yarmouth on May 30.
