Mariners can’t close the gap against Sumner

The Lady Mariners hosted the Sumner Tigers on January 6 but, after a slow start never caught up. The girls trailed 29-10 at the half, came back in the third to trail by 10 but ran out of gas, finishing with a 45-27 loss. They are now 4-7 for the season.

The boys didn’t fare any better the next day, losing to the Tigers 50-37. After a close first half, trailing 21-18. the boys had a rough third quarter to get behind by 14 and couldn’t close the gap. Jared Gove was point leader with 12. The boys are 2-8 .

Both teams travel to Machias on Friday, January 9 and return home on Wednesday, January 15 to face Bangor Christian. The girls tip off is 5:30 p.m.; the boys at 7 p.m.
